The Locus of the «Cabinet» as a vital part of the artistic space can help the researcher in literary works’s identifying the as related to romantic, realist or modernist. In Chekov’s study remains an open question of creative method evaluation used by Anton Chekhov in the last decade of his creative activity. Loci, as tiny elements of art space, more free from the archetypal effect and influence of literary tradition, reveal features of the author's work with space. The locus of the «Cabinet» is part of the home space, but less archetypal and more associated with Chekhov's time, are more prone to the author's impact. During the final period of creativity of A. P. Chekhov the locus of the «Cabinet» is presented in several works: «the Grasshopper» (1892), «Palata No. 6» (1892), «the Black monk» (1894), «Indian Kingdom» (1894), «Three years» (1895), «My life» (1896), «the Bishop» (1902). From work to work locus «the Cabinet» is undergoing significant change. Space became not only additional feature, but also played key role to understanding the character nature. Else, space serves to deceive the reader, complicates the preliminary of the narrative prediction. The closed space of the rooms of Chekhov's characters gradually disclose, and a characteristic complement of musical, olfactory motifs. Link between time layer and literature text is broken. So, the locus of the «Cabinet» becomes part of the of protagonists memories. Similar processes are general to modernist literature. Literature of the 20th century characterized by an interest in overcoming the usual, linear time that is associated with the accumulation of scientific knowledge about the world and the emergence of prerequisites, and then the Einstein’s theory of relativity.
