Emotional stability, as the ability to maintain psycho-emotional balance in stressful situations, is directly related to the effectiveness of performing professional duties. Factors limiting the potential of employees were identified, including signs of emotional exhaustion, decreased internal motivation, increased levels of anxiety and depression in individual employees. Correlation analysis between indicators of emotional stability and various psychological characteristics related to professional fitness of employees revealed three statistically significant relationships: negative – between anxiety and behavioral regulation, between neuroticism and responsibility for work results; positive – between hypochondria and maladaptive disorders. The indicators of emotional stability obtained using the Eysenck questionnaire can serve as a guide in assessing professional suitability. Most employees demonstrate an adaptive level of emotional stability that meets the requirements of their professional activities. Based on current data, emotional stability is a key, but not the only or decisive factor in professional aptitude. Empirical research has confirmed that various psychological characteristics (such as self-control, anxiety, adaptive potential, etc.) have a significant impact on the level of emotional stability, and, consequently, on the success of professional functioning in conditions of professional activity. Neuroticism can be considered as a significant indicator in assessing the professional suitability of employees, especially for positions requiring a high level of responsibility for work results. However, the moderate strength of the correlation indicates the presence of other factors affecting responsibility.

Keywords:emotional stability, professional suitability, stress resistance, adaptation to service activities, volitional self-regulation, psychological characteristics.
