THE TRANSFORMATION OF TRADITIONAL DANCE FORMS OF THE LUHANSK REGION IN THE CONTEXT OF CONTEMPORARY MASS CULTURE: FROM FOLK HERITAGE TO STAGE PRACTICES

Cherepakha Dmitriy Gennadievich  (Graduate student Lugansk State Academy of Culture and Arts named after Mikhail Matusovsky )

This article examines the transformation of dance forms in the Luhansk region in the context of the region's industrial development and multiethnic population, where hybrid choreographic practices were shaped by urban codes and globalization processes. The transition from folklore heritage to stage practices is analyzed through the lens of terminological ambiguity, a semiotic approach, and the concept of post-folk as an attempt to restore broken cultural ties. It examines the modernization of folk dance toward an ethno-variety style, where spectacle and theatricality supplant ritual functions, transforming authentic forms into simulacra of mass culture. The need for a cultural studies approach to systematically study the mechanisms of staging and preserving the genetic characteristics of folk choreography in the context of the loss of traditional contexts is substantiated.

Keywords:folk choreography, staging of folklore, post-folk, dance culture of the Luhansk region, ethnocultural transformation, dance semiotics, urban code
