The article focuses on the problem of improving the management of tourist territories in the context of sustainable development requirements. Based on a comparative analysis of the international IDM model (using the TALC example) and the domestic model for specially protected natural areas (SPNAs), their conceptual similarities and functional shortcomings are identified. As a result of the study, employing socio-political philosophy, a set of new functions aimed at integrating sustainability principles, digitalization potential, and socio-cultural significance is proposed. The key proposed functions include the implementation of a digital destination management platform, climate-resilient planning, as well as gamification mechanisms and startup support. The implementation of these functions lays the foundation for building a more adaptive, technologically advanced, and balanced management model capable of effectively responding to modern economic, environmental, and social challenges.
