The article discusses the problem of chronic suppurative otitis media in ear surgery and how to solve it. The advantages and disadvantages of the solution methods are described. Literature data are presented. The proposed method - the use of epidermal growth factor. Objective of the study. To compare the rate of wound healing (epidermisation) in the small postoperative cavity of the temporal bone (less than 2 cc) obtained during sanitizing surgery on the middle ear in an open type with and without epidermal growth factor. Materials and Methods. The study involved 105 patients. All participants in the statistical observation underwent general cavity sanitizing surgery on the middle ear. Then the patients were divided into 3 groups of 35 people. In some of the study participants, the drug "Ebermin" containing epidermal growth factor (group 1) was used in local treatment, while in others, local treatment was not used (group 2). In the third group of patients, silver sulfadiazine was used in local treatment. The preparations were applied to the postoperative cavity on the eighth day after the operation on the quilted jacket with a layer of 1 mm. The morphological state of the postoperative cavity (complete or incomplete epidermisation) was assessed using otomicroscopy. The results of the study showed a significant positive effect of the epidermal growth factor on the rate of wound healing (epidermisation) in the small postoperative cavity of the temporal bone obtained during sanitizing surgery on the middle ear in an open manner.

Keywords:epidermal growth factor, wound healing.
