FEATURES OF THE COURSE OF A NEW CORONAVIRUS INFECTION IN CHILDREN

SARS-CoV-2, a member of the coronaviridae family, has caused a deadly pandemic called coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Childhood patients, mainly from families with infection or with a history of contact with epidemic zones, became infected through direct contact or through airborne droplets. In most cases, children were characterized by an asymptomatic course or cold symptoms such as fever, cough, myalgia or fatigue, which were less pronounced compared to adult patients. In some clinical cases, children may develop a multisystem inflammatory syndrome, which in children has its own characteristics: most cases are observed in older age and in adolescents, most often have a mild course, although in rare cases there can be a severe course. Due to the fact that recommendations for the use of specific chemotherapy drugs have not been developed for children, further study of clinical cases seems necessary for early detection, timely treatment and reduction of complications in the post-Covid period.
