Methods and means of information coding using spin-polarization devices

Spin nanoelectronics allows for entirely new ways of information encoding and encrypting using the spin of photons in a fiber-optic data transmission. The ability of creating spin light emitting diode which emits circularly polarized light is discussed. Spin-polarized carriers are injected from the ferromagnetic contact combined with the quantum well in the spin light emitting diode. Quantum selection rules that describe recombination establish a connection between the circular polarization of the light emitted along the normal to the surface and the spin polarization of electrons.
