Currently, the modeling of transport network development processes is the main research method, as well as a scientifically grounded method of assessing the characteristics of complex systems, in particular transport, which, in turn, are used to make decisions in various fields of activity. When performing the simulation, a solution is sought for the problem that determines the structure of the process. In the process of modeling transport networks, there are numerous tasks that require evaluation of quantitative characteristics, as well as qualitative regularities of the processes directly operating these systems. The lack of information in the experimental study of transport systems does not allow full design, implementation and operation without the use of modeling techniques, which makes it possible to present in a necessary form the processes of the functioning of systems, as well as a description of the course of these processes through mathematical models. In these situations, the most common models are analytical and imitation. In the process of analytical study of transport networks, a complete study can be carried out directly only if explicit dependences are known. In the conditions of information deficit, the analysis of the characteristics of the development of transport networks with the help of only analytical methods encounters significant difficulties, which, in turn, lead to the need to substantially simplify the models and obtain unreliable results. Therefore, imitation models are often used to study the development of transport networks.

Keywords:transport networks, imitation modeling, traffic flows, transport systems.
