Restrictions of rights on foreign investments in transactions with shares of Russian companies

This article provides an overview of legal issues related to the Russia’s regime on investment in strategic sector. The author analyses restrictions on foreign investments in the forms of prohibitions and special requirements of the approval process applying to transactions in specific Russian industries. The article includes examples of legal acts and legislative proposal on the removal of administrative barriers to foreign investment in certain sectors of the economy. The author makes a conclusion that the trend of liberalization of the national policy in this sphere result in the improvement of the investment climate in Russian Federation.
