Role of Gnosticizm in Political and Legal Life of ancientry

Palyulin Anton Yurievich  (graduate student, National Research University – Higher School of Economics)

This article discusses the Gnostic teachings of the "right hand" about a state and a law which are fundamental and constituent in relation to the states of Europe and the Middle East in the period before the establishment of world religions of Christianity and Islam. The esoteric part of any ancient religion, which sacred kings and high priests were devoted to, had a gnostic-initiatory character and was reflected in the monuments of law and state legal treatises of the ancient world. The author also studied Gnosticism of the "left hand", which developed as an ideology that denies the benefit of the state and the need for positive law. At the same time, Gnosticism of the "left hand", which is in opposition to the state, is a destructive cult, claiming the need to overthrow the hierarchy and seeing the ideal society in the spiritual ascetic communities, denying earthly power and legislation.

Keywords:Antiquity, hermeticism, Gnosticism, Dualism, Manichaeism, theology, Christianity.
