Development of Russian entrepreneurship: historical aspect

The article is concerned with the historical aspects of the formation and development of entrepreneurship in Russia. The analyzed period covers the period from IX century until today. The author has attempted to determine the role of the state in the evolution of entrepreneurship. The paper draws a conclusion that historical experience has demonstrated the state support is a necessary requirement for successful development of business.
