Problems and prospects of intensification of forest management and forestry

The article talked about the problems of transition to the intensive model of forest management and forestry in Russia. The necessity of this transition due to a decrease in the productivity of economically accessible forests as a result of depletion of high-value forest stands of conifers with subsequent replacement of them low commodity stands of broadleaved species, thus worsening the economic situation in all sectors of the forest complex in the long term. For the realization of the intensive model of forest management need to change a system of standards for the whole forestry cycle, from reforestation to the final felling stands, increasing the interest of the tenant in the full range of forest management activities and the establishment of forest infrastructure, creating market demand for timber harvested during logging care, the use of planting material with improved hereditary properties, which allows to obtain high-quality mature wood in a shorter time. The implementation of this model will ensure a long-term demand for forest products, increase the economic efficiency of forest management and forest sustainability.
