In the article analyzes one of the indicators of quality by services to the public using the road transport - the amount of harmful emissions into the atmosphere from automobile transport and ways of reduce this indicator. Presented transfer efficiency of vehicles to natural gas, the use of environmentally friendly fuels.
Research on the amount of harmful emissions into the atmosphere from road transport by city regions of Russia showed that the share of emissions into the atmosphere from road transport is more than 50 percent, and in some cities, for example, in the Krasnodar region, is more than 90 percent.
In the article also presents data of the level of motorization in some cities in Europe and Russia, which shows that the level of motorization, even in medium-sized Russian cities is comparable with indicators of European capitals, but the environmental requirements for vehicles in our country is much less severe in comparison with European.
The article stresses that for the reduction of the harmful effects of old vehicles on the population and the environment can help change from gasoline and diesel to electric traction and natural gas. The authors show problems of use of electric vehicles in Russia, the author noted the possibility of using a harmless gas fuel.
