The concept of sustainable development was accepted as one of the bases of long-term management of regional socio-economic systems in many countries. However, the main provisions of this concept is still not recognized sport and tourism factors in sustainable development. In the article an attempt is made to determine the effect of sport and tourism on sustainable development of the region. On the example of Sochi given factual material supporting the importance of sports factor in the sustainable development of the region.
