The transition to a market-based economic system in Russia has put many tourism enterprises in a difficult situation, when competition forces them to seek new ways to survive, use competitive advantages and ensure the competitiveness of tourism enterprises and their services. As practice shows, many Russian tourism enterprises are not ready to actively compete, on most of them, competitiveness management is not considered and does not act as an independent system or subsystem in the management process. The specific issues of measuring and forecasting competitiveness in conditions of various competitive markets have not been fully developed, there is no clearly defined methodology for forecasting the competitiveness of enterprises of various industry affiliations. The competitiveness of tourism enterprises in conditions of growing competitive pressure is increasingly conditioned by the internal and external competitive advantages of the entity. If the formation of internal competitive advantages directly depends on the competitive potential of the tourism enterprise, the effectiveness of its management system, then external - on the level of competitiveness of the country, region, industry.
Keywords:competitiveness, economic efficiency, tourism.
