The economy and educationin discussion

The article discusses alternative approaches to assessing the effectiveness of education in economic thought. The author hypothesizes that education systems in many countries are not the "engine" of economic growth nowadays, as they focus not only on increasing the market value of individual labor. The study is based on a number of little-known in Russia works and opinions of foreign scientists.
