Currently, the main trend of the global economy is the search for ways to achieve sustainable development goals. New technologies, such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, Big Data and the Internet of Things, have the potential to help humanity achieve its goals. This article analyzes the role and possibilities of the Internet of Things as a global economic infrastructure in the context of the transition to the fourth industrial revolution. The conditions and main directions for the development of the Internet of Things, as well as the opportunities and risks that it brings are revealed.
