In the work of the investigator decision-making is an integral part of his professional activities. The article discusses topical issues related to the definition of the concepts of procedural and tactical decision of the investigator. The definition and correlation of the concepts "decision" and "decision-making" are considered. As the main elements of the solution, the definition of the purpose of action and the establishment of ways to achieve it are investigated. The influence of psychological features on the investigator's decision-making is highlighted. The author analyzes the relationship between the concepts of procedural, tactical, managerial and strategic decisions.
