The article outlines the category of social function of civil law. It is noted that the goals of the social function of law is to ensure social cohesion and social justice, resolving existing social contradictions, creating opportunities for every citizen to participate in public life. In recent years the civil law social impact on public relations is actively carried out on the legal regulation of the activities of non-profit organizations and voluntary initiatives. A new aspect of the social function of law is the need to ensure citizens' access to digital technology.
