Competence of the police in the field of public safety on railway transport

Ensuring public safety on railway transport has always aroused great political and social interest. Railway transport security includes a whole range of measures, ranging from protecting property and equipment from damage, to fighting the fear of crime, which can prevent the population from using railway transport services. Ensuring public safety on railway transport, including appropriate measures to combat crime and anti-social behavior, is the responsibility of the police. In the article, the author examines the legal basis of the police’s competence to ensure public safety, on railway transport, as well as the role and significance of various regulatory legal acts in the police activity. The author concludes that the main competences of the police, which are enshrined in a special law, are constantly expanding, which allows for more effective work of the police, including in the field of public safety on railway transport.
