Opportunistic behavior of economic entities: manipulation of environmental responsibility in economic interests

The purpose of the article is to analyze existing forms of manipulation of environmental responsibility in the economic interests and develop mechanisms to prevent such behavior of economic entities to ensure the socio-economic security of territories. The research methodology is based on case study methods, analysis of the legal framework, and correlation analysis. This paper uses data obtained from sociological surveys and statistics of user requests from the Yandex search engine. The article highlights two main forms of manipulation of environmental responsibility in economic interests, used by economic entities. The existing institutions for preventing manipulation are analyzed on the example of organic products, recommendations are made for their improvement and establishment for all types of eco-products. The need to encourage «green» innovations, open publication of reports on the activities of companies and their access to international financial markets, as well as to stimulate the growth of the supply of eco-products in the Russian Federation is shown.
