Grounds preventing registration of geographical indications and names of origin of goods

Within the framework of this article, issues related to the introduction of legislative provisions in July 2020 regarding the streamlining of the registration of the appellation of origin of goods and the application of geographical indication were considered. The existing problematic aspects of the registration of law protection in Rospatent, the impossibility of providing secondary protection for foreign producers, abuse of law by unscrupulous entities are shown, and possible ways to overcome them are proposed.
