Local self-government is an important component of the country's governance system and is the closest element of communication between the population and the Executive power of the state. At the same time, the structure of local self-government varies according to the scale and status of the country's territorial segments. Cities-subjects of the Russian Federation, including Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Sevastopol, have a different management system than other cities, which is due to the peculiarities of the state mechanism in these regions. The article provides a comparative analysis of the features of local self-government in the cities-subjects of the Russian Federation, systematizes the differences from the formed management system in other cities of Russia. It is essential to consider the features of local self-government in each of them in order to identify problems and solutions in the further development of self-government.
