US stock market crisis of 2007-2008: causes of occurrence and potential mechanism of counteraction

Within the framework of this scientific article, the key causes of the crisis in the US stock market in 2007-2008 are disclosed. The role of commercial banks in the framework of this crisis is analyzed, as well as the key problems in the field of regulation of the US financial and credit policy in the period up to 2008 are identified. The key instruments and mechanisms of government regulation have been identified that could serve as a factor in preventing a crisis in the US stock market.
