The article shows that the nuclear industry of the Russian Federation acts as a low-carbon source of energy is an innovative center of the domestic economy and one of the high-tech industries that has international competitiveness. Against the backdrop of an unfavorable military-political situation, there are positive factors that ensure the development of the nuclear industry in the Russian Federation. The existing scientific and technological reserve, combined with the aggravation of global environmental problems and the growth of the world population, requires the active development of nuclear energy, which makes it possible to ensure the energy and national security of the country.
