Consequences of digitalization for modern society

The article deals with the actual problem of the consequences of the digitalization process for modern society from the point of economic sociology. The relevance of the research topic lies in the fact that there is a rather extensive layer of scientific literature about the process of digitalization, but about the consequences of digitalization for society. The purpose of the article is to consider three waves of digitalization and their consequences for the development of modern society. The objectives of the article are to reveal the essence of the waves of digitalization, as well as the consequences of the digitalization process for the modern society development. The research methodology is based on a systematic approach and includes the methods of the general scientific group (analysis, synthesis, deduction, induction), as well as a number of special methods: content analysis of scientific literature; method of theoretical economic analysis, method of scientific generalization. Based on the study results, the author came to the following conclusions: during the third and subsequent waves of digitalization, for the normal existence of society, it is necessary to develop a whole range of mechanisms to mitigate or level the negative consequences of the digitalization process.
