Vitovskaya E. S.  (Lecturer, Kuzbass Institute of the FPS of Russia PhD (Law) (Novokuznetsk))

the article is devoted to the criminological conditionality of the introduction of compulsory medical measures against persons who have committed crimes in the field of illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances and need treatment for drug addiction. The author gives a classification of models for the prevention of crimes in the field of illicit traffic in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, based on the understanding of drug addiction as a background phenomenon of these acts. Special attention is drawn to the fact that legal scholars and representatives of medicine support the position of an involuntary form of treatment of drug addiction, since the identity of a convict who needs treatment for drug addiction is characterized not only for himself, but also for society. The use of coercive medical measures against this category of persons will not only enable them to receive the necessary medical care, but will also help to prevent them from committing new criminal acts.
