Improving the federal policy of regional economic development

The purpose of the article is to study the processes of improving the federal policy of regional economic development. It is shown that the regional policy acts as an alternative to the national one, at the same time it complements, specifies it, combines general and specific goals, promotes the implementation of an integrated approach to solving socio-economic problems. The significance of regional policy lies in the fact that it plays the role of a connecting link between macro- and microeconomics. It has been established that in the Russian Federation today there are only 13 donor regions, while the success of the federal policy of regional economic development of the Moscow Region and the Krasnodar Territory is associated with a high level of involvement of banks in investments and the development of various areas of the regional economy. The Stavropol Territory and the Republic of Dagestan today are characterized by a significant dependence of local budgets on the federal budget, high unemployment, a low level of involvement of banks in investments, and informal employment. In this regard, it is important for the regions to develop tools for the authorities to plan and shape the development of the economy locally in the context of national goals.
