The article reveals the actual aspects of the legal status of peregrines in the family legislation of Ancient Rome. The contradiction between the exclusivity of Roman citizenship as a privilege of the indigenous inhabitants of the Roman state and imperial expansion, which involved provincial residents into the legal space of Ancient Rome, is shown by the example of significant restrictions on the rights of Peregrines in marriage and family legislation. Despite the existence of separate opportunities, the Peregrine family rights, especially in the field of inheritance, were seriously limited. This came into conflict with the desire of the Roman Empire to declare the social and political unity of the state.
