In the context of geopolitical and external economic uncertainty, the global semiconductor industry, previously one of the most globalized, is experiencing pressure towards deglobalization and fragmentation. Problems associated with the new coronavirus infection COVID-19, geopolitical instability and logistics problems have forced governments of different countries to think about maintaining the competitiveness of national economies in the face of changing international conditions. The article examines current issues of transformation of the global semiconductor industry at the present stage of development. It is concluded that in the context of increasing modern global challenges, trends are emerging towards the formation of competing development models in the global semiconductor industry and a significant strengthening of the role of the state in this area.
