ON THE ISSUE OF CRIMINAL LIABILITY FOR ILLEGAL LOGGING OF FOREST PLANTATIONS

The article analyzes amendments to explanatory documents on criminal liability for illegal logging, namely, Resolution No. 21 of the Plenum of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation dated October 18, 2012 "On the application by courts of legislation on liability for violations in the field of environmental protection and nature management". Based on the current forest legislation and law enforcement practice, the author considers new clarifications on the issue of criminal liability for illegal logging of forest plantations, which are given in the regulatory document, conducts a comparative analysis with the explanations in the previous version of the resolution, gives legal assessments, makes proposals for improving legislation in order to more effectively organize the activities of law enforcement officers to counter illegal logging of forest plantations, draws conclusions about the importance of work on improving the forest
