Systematic work is being carried out in the Russian Federation to improve legislation in criminal proceedings and the penitentiary sphere. First of all, the legislator has made changes aimed at ensuring the rights of suspects and accused detainees, as well as improving the conditions of their detention in a pre-trial detention center.
This article examines and analyzes the specifics of the legal status of suspects and accused persons in custody in pre-trial detention centers and the latest changes made to regulatory legal acts in relation to this category of persons. The authors note that the changes considered will soften the conditions of detention of suspects and accused whose guilt has not yet been proven.
