the article considers the concept of youth as an active economic category. Its features, as well as its structural composition by segments of different ages. In addition, the article presents static data on unemployment and youth employment in Russia in recent years. The positive and negative aspects of the social realization of youth in regional labor markets are highlighted. The essence of the institutionalization of professions and its impact on the development of youth is revealed. Some modern methods of regulating the social development of Russian youth in regional labor markets are proposed to improve the process of vocational guidance and adaptation.
