The article reviews the legal aspects of the collection of signatures to participate in elections in the Russian Federation, reflecting amendments and additions to the legislation, in particular, in Federal Laws No. 67-FZ dated May 22, 2002 and No. 154-FZ dated May 23, 2020. The main attention is paid to the procedure for filling out subscription lists, including exceptions for persons with disabilities, requirements for voters’ personal data, and innovations concerning the standardization of subscription list forms and the use of digital technologies for collecting signatures. International practice and requirements for the minimum number of signatures required to register candidates are also discussed.
