The article examines the work of the greatest Russian philosopher Vladimir Sergeevich Solovyov from the perspective of his views on law, its role and specifics in regulating the state structure. The article presents opinions of different pre-revolutionary thinkers on Solovyov's legal views and attention is drawn to the fact that some of the authors who objected to Solovyov, who considered him an insufficient expert in law, largely shared his ideas and noted their significance and timeliness. When writing the article, the scientific works of modern philosophers and lawyers engaged in the study of the legal views of V. Solovyov, were also used. The key point of the philosophy of law is V. Solovyov's goal to defend the idea of the conditionality of law by morality. The phenomenon of this thinker is that he formulated rather original conclusions and proposed his own definitions of legal concepts having no legal education and practical experience as a lawyer.
Keywords:moral, law, relationship of morality and law, ethics, V. Solovyov's philosophy of law, state, society
