The article studies the dynamics of the total number of economic crimes in the Russian Federation, in particular, corruption-related. The relationship between these factors and the country's economic security is established. Threats to the economic security of the Russian Federation arising from economic crimes and the main reasons for this negative impact are identified. The influence of the level of economic crime on national economic security is shown. The indicators characterizing the scale of economic crime and corruption, the composition of corruption crimes (receiving and giving a bribe, mediation in bribery, petty bribery, commercial bribery and petty commercial bribery), as well as the amount of damage caused to our country over the past five years are analyzed. As part of improving the corruption component of the country's economic security, a set of specific measures has been developed to reduce this indicator in the overall level of economic crimes. The measures taken by the state in this direction are working and the number of economic crimes has noticeably decreased by 2023. The main preventive measures regarding economic crimes in general are considered and classified. A set of measures to reduce the corruption component of economic crimes is proposed. Among the main areas in the prevention of economic crime is a system of measures: ensuring the sustainability of the country's economic growth and employment (using measures to combat unemployment), increasing domestic production, achieving a balance between economic efficiency and social justice and reviving (strengthening) the moral foundations of the people. The article presents measures aimed at eliminating the causes and conditions for committing economic crimes, including improving legislative norms in the field of regulating economic crimes, creating conditions for increasing the motivation of bodies working in the field of regulating economic crimes, increasing the number of identified economic crimes, etc. Proposals have been formulated to reduce the level and scale of economic crime using corruption as an example: reducing the state apparatus, improving legislation in the field of combating corruption, ensuring freedom of the press and transparency of the state mechanism, transferring the maximum possible number of bureaucratic procedures online, etc.
