The article analyzes economic sanctions through game theory, exploring the strategic decisions of sanctioning and sanctioned states. It examines the balance between short-term economic losses and long-term deterrence, showing that while sanctions may be costly, they can prevent future violations. The study highlights the importance of credible commitments and how economic dependencies and geopolitical factors shape sanction effectiveness.
