The article examines the empirical characteristics of the Soviet control doctrine from the perspective of the empirical method of legal science. Empiricism as a method of scientific knowledge is based on creative scientific research and the formulation of hypotheses. The authors consistently define the structure of the empirical characteristics of the Soviet control doctrine. It includes sources of law, acts of legal interpretation, law enforcement acts, written documents (which arise in the process of control legal relations), scientific publications, reporting forms, and documents reflecting the legal policy of the state.
