INDEX OF REGIONAL ECONOMIC SECURITY OF THE IRKUTSK REGION

The article examines theoretical and methodological approaches to measuring regional economic security using the case of the Irkutsk Region. Regional economic security is defined as the state of a region’s socio-economic system that ensures sustainable development, financial independence, and protection against threats. The research is based on the analysis of production-economic, financial, investment-innovative, social, demographic, and environmental indicators. An integral index of regional economic security has been developed, incorporating normalized and weighted indicators as well as risk metrics. Calculations demonstrate that the Irkutsk Region maintains a high level of economic resilience, though certain risks persist in the industrial sector and household income. The proposed approach enables ongoing monitoring of regional economic conditions, identification of vulnerabilities, and formation of policy measures in the field of economic security. The practical significance of the study lies in the applicability of its results for regional authorities, research institutions, and analytical centers in developing socio-economic development strategies and anti-crisis measures.
