The article discusses the issue of recognizing cryptocurrencies as the subject of embezzlement and misappropriation. The author suggests criteria for recognizing cryptocurrencies as the subject of embezzlement and misappropriation. Cryptocurrency is considered not only as a legal, but also as an economic category, which is manifested in equal analysis of the current realities of the civil circulation of cryptocurrencies, the legislation of the Russian Federation and judicial practice.
