Infectious complications in patients with acute myeloid leukemia younger 60 years and their prediction by immunity indicators

The highest frequency of severe infectious complications in patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) younger than 60 years during the 5-year follow-up period was during the primary active phase of the disease, the induction and consolidation cycles and the relapse of the disease. At the same time, during the induction and consolidation, infectious complications were associated with damage of the lungs and bronchi, the mucous of oral cavity and gastro-intestinal tract; and a significant proportion of septic complications was invasive mycoses. The use of immunity indicators in the diagnostic model as a set of linear classification functions allows determining the risk group of the development of severe infectious complications in patients with AML younger than 60 years and It is a highly sensitive and informative method for predicting the development of complications before the next line of therapy or during the follow up.
