Today, when the problem of infertility and reproductive losses is quite acute, the relevance of the use of assisted reproductive technologies, including IVF, is beyond doubt. In this regard, we analyzed the experience of using in vitro fertilization (IVF) in modern obstetrics and gynecology, reproduction, assessed the prospects and risks of the further development of this technology.
The results obtained allow us to highlight a number of advantages and risks of the IVF procedure. The advantages include the fact that IVF is a tool that allows a sterile married couple to conceive and carry out a child, allows to improve the characteristics of biological material. IVF does not affect children's health outcomes. The risks of the procedure include: repeated unsuccessful attempts of in vitro fertilization in many couples, failure to transfer several embryos, the negative impact of high doses of hormones used during the procedure, a high risk of fetal hypoxia, bioethical controversy.
