On the use of zirconium dioxide suprastructures, which have become widely used in the practice of aesthetic dentistry of the XXI century, the first publications appeared in 2003. Due to the mechanism of transformational hardening, this material has a unique biocompatibility and the ability to restrain the spread of microcracks under excessive loads. In this article we have conducted an extensive analysis of foreign publications devoted to the most controversial issues related to orthopedic constructions of zirconium dioxide: their biocompatibility, cytotoxicity, strength, durability.
