Gestational diabetes mellitus: current state of the problem

The article presents a review of literature data for the last 10 years on the problem of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). New data were obtained on the etiology, epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinic features and complications of this type of diabetes. The investigation sounded modern diagnostic criteria and rules for conducting basic tests according to the recommendations of the Russian consensus on gestational diabetes. The basic methods of treatment of this pathology - diet and insulin therapy - are also deeply studied.
