Effective removal of elements from one-dimensional array

This article is based on the solution of one Olympiad problem which was given to students of MGSU during the Olympiad in Informatics. The problem is related to removal of elements from the given array and determination of the last remaining number. The paper considers different extensions of this problem and its possible solutions.
