In the article presents an analysis of the dynamics of indicators of primary disability due to mental disorders among adults of the Altai region for the period from 2014 to 2018, taking into account age, place of residence, disability groups. In the structure of disability in the Russian Federation, disabled persons due to mental disorders and behavioral disorders occupy the fourth highest place. When considering statistics, the level of primary disability due to mental disorders of citizens over the age of 18 and over in the Altai region exceeds the same rates for the Siberian Federal District and the Russian Federation, and tends to increase. For the first time, those who are recognized as disabled as a result of mental disorders are dominated by urban dwellers, averaging more than 60.0%. The distribution of citizens who were recognized as disabled for the first time due to mental disorders showed the predominance of the age group over 55 years (h) and 60 years (m). The level of disability in this age group tends to increase. Citizens with mental disorders were more likely to be placed in the first disability group, mainly in the age group over 55 years (h) and 60 years (m). Organic mental disorders (F00-F09) were significantly predominate in the nosoological structure of primary disability due to mental disorders and averaged more than 70.0%.
