Cubital tunnel syndrome is the second most common peripheral nerve compression seen in surgery of the peripheral nervous system. A thorough understanding of the ulnar nerve anatomy and common sites of compression are required to determine the cause of the neuropathy and proper treatment. Diagnostic tests, such as provocative tests, electroneuromyography and ultrasound can help in the diagnosis. As a rule, for mild and temporary disorders of the ulnar nerve, conservative treatment is used with recommendations on avoiding postures that provoke the onset of symptoms. Clarifying the location and nature of ulnar nerve compression can help the surgeon choose the appropriate surgical treatment method. This article presents an overview of the clinical picture, diagnostic studies, and the algorithm for selecting options for surgical treatment of cubital tunnel syndrome.

Keywords:tunnel neuropathy, ulnar nerve, cubital tunnel, transposition, microdecompression.
