Epidemiology and treatment of acute and chronic wounds

The review of the world literature discusses the frequency of occurrence of acute and chronic wounds of various origins in different countries, as well as the financial costs of their treatment. The results of meta-analyzes and systematic reviews on the effectiveness of various agents and methods used to treat wounds are presented. The authors come to the conclusion that the problem is of great urgency, but there are no uniform and effective approaches and medicines for the treatment of wounds. In this regard, an extremely urgent and promising is the development of improved means for the treatment of wounds based on the pathogenetic mechanisms of regeneration.
