The task of improving the quality and efficiency of collecting and processing data on the climatic characteristics of the Arctic region by developing new models, methods and algorithms for designing special software systems is being considered. The purpose of the work is to develop a software system for collecting and processing data on the climatic characteristics of the Arctic region. The results of analysis of existing information systems of climate monitoring are presented. Functional and non-functional requirements for a software system for collecting and processing information on the state of the climate in the Arctic region of Russia are formulated. The software system proposed by the authors, which allows monitoring the climatic characteristics and environment of the Arctic region, will combine the capabilities of all existing information systems and software solutions, implementing not only automated processes for collecting and processing large data, but also reporting without human participation.

Keywords:climate characteristics, environment, Arctic region, monitoring data management software system, information system requirements, data collection and processing model.
