Khovayko Vitalii Aleksandrovich  (postgraduate student, Tver State Medical University)

The article analyzes the literature on the problem of myofascial pain syndrome of the face and dysfunction of the temporomandibular joint dysfunction, which can occur with difficult eruption of third molars. Anomalies of wisdom teeth are capable of initiating functional disorders in the temporomandibular joint and causing pain symptoms in the maxillofacial muscles, while this issue has not been sufficiently studied at present. It is necessary to develop an algorithm for the complex diagnosis of myofascial facial pain syndrome and TMJ dysfunction in case of difficult eruption of third molars. The understanding of this problem will provide dentists, orthodontists, maxillofacial surgeons and other clinicians with effective approaches to alleviating human suffering, and will make a significant contribution to the quality of life of their patients.
